3 Day Hikes Outside DC

Looking for a perfect activity to get away from the city? Here are 3 day hikes that are right outside of DC:

Great Falls

I made a previous post about Great Falls on this blog, here. However, I have since gone on a couple more hikes in the area.

Located only 15 miles from the US Capitol is Great Falls. It’s a great day hike that lets you unwind from the city life and connect with the outdoors. What I really enjoy about the hike is that the trails run right along the Potomac River so there was a great view the majority of the hike.

Billy Goat Trail

This trail was quite the scramble hike. This is by no means an easy trail. If you like climbing over rocks and big boulders, this is the trail for you. However, don’t bring an elderly parent because it will be challenging for them to complete this hike. At one point in the hike, you will need to scale a 50ft traverse that is pretty steep.
