About ME
Welcome to P.S. Mabuhay, I’m Claire Grace! I am thrilled to see you exploring my little spot on the internet for those who are interested in travel.
I created this blog because I really needed to get serious about pursuing my travel dreams. By investing in a blog, I hope to manifest the things I want most in life now. If I say that I want to go do something, I want to make that happen. I’m in my early 20’s and have a whole life ahead of me. Join me on my journey of self-empowerment, independence, wandering, and life in general.

What does Mabuhay mean? Mabuhay is a Tagalog word for “live” and is also a common greeting that can mean “welcome” or “cheers”. The word can compared to the Spanish equivalent, Viva.
What is your ethnicity? 100% Filipina
How do you afford to travel? Working remotely is ideal. By taking my work with me on my laptop, I can set up office anywhere and explore on my time off. For jobs in which I am unable to work remote, I save until I get some days off to travel again. On my blog, I share tips on how to make travel affordable.
What camera do you use? Sony RX100 VII and iPhone
Why solo travel and not travel with others? It’s not that I don’t want to travel with other people. Believe me, I find great comfort in traveling with family and friends. However, there are pros and cons of solo travel. At times, I didn’t have a set schedule and kind of just stayed somewhere as long as I wanted. I don’t really know anyone at the moment with that type of availability. Solo travel pushes yourself to get out of your comfort zone and see new places and meet new people along the way.
Doesn’t it get lonely traveling on your own? How do you meet people? Yes of course! This was one of my fears going in, but the more you go out there on your own, the more you get used to the lifestyle.
Here are some ways I meet others during my travels:
-
Subleasing: To save money, I sublease a room for a short period of time at my destination. I find subleases either though Craigslist or Facebook housing groups. When subleasing, there are typically roommates that you can meet and interact with.
- Hostels: I had some great experience staying in hostels. You have so many different people under one roof. Actually, I met a girl at a hostel who road tripped with me for about 3 weeks! However, not all hostel experiences will be good. Just always be cautious and stay safe!
- Dating Apps/Bumble BFF: We can’t underestimate the power of Dating/Networking Apps. It can be a great way to meet someone locally. Just exercise caution and be smart about trusting your gut if something seems off. I highly recommend sharing details with a good friend and sharing your location.
- Out & About: Sometimes when you are doing your own thing whether it be at a coffee shop or hiking, you may meet friendly people by chance. Have a friendly, open demeanor about you and don’t seem closed off so that you are approachable.
