Autumn In New Hampshire: The White Mountains
It’s officially my first Autumn in the Northeast and I was so excited to experience this true changing of leaves accompanied by colder weather. I was staying in Boston at the time, but we decided to take a day trip to New Hampshire to the White Mountains to go on a day hike. From Boston, it was a two-hour trip. For those of you who have never heard of the White Mountains before, it is a mountain range covering about a quarter of the state of New Hampshire and a small portion of western Maine in the United States.
Upon arriving in the area, there are numerous lookout points and hiking trails. We took the Kancamagus Highway for being the best scenic route. It is a 34.5-mile scenic drive known for one of the best Fall Foliage viewing areas in the country. Along the highway, we made two stops: Rocky Gorge Scenic Area and Sabbaday Falls. These are nice, quick stops along the highway where you can get a quick view of the waterfalls as well as the fall foliage. The drive is definitely worth it if you’re really looking for those fall vibes.
